Foundation of Changshu Institute of Technology
Changshu Institute of Technology was founded in August, 1958. Then, It was called as “Suzhou College of Teachers”. The university started recruiting graduate degrees in 1975 when it reformed the entry exams. It was approved by the Ministerial educational committee and Jiangsu’s civil department in 1988, and it was merged with Changshu Vocation Institute that year. Teaching courses for undergraduates were supported in February 2001 by CTI, and the ministerial educational committee signed an agreement to open formally Changshu Institute of technology in 2004.

Scholarships
University recruits 120-160 students for scholarships every year. Scholarships for Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degree as well as for language courses are provided.

General Info
Changshu Institute of Technology is a Chinese outstanding university that is featured with polytechnics, teachers education, and sciences of technological application. It is situated adjacent to the Yangzte River, and in Chenshu that is a popular suburb of Jiangsu. There is also picturesque Shajiabang Lake. This university covers a land of over 6km2. The land has two divisions: South dormitory and Eastern Lake. The official former of the university is Suzhou Normal School and formal foundation date is 12th May.
Majors
The university is comprised of seven principal majors and 46 disciplinary programs. They are:
• Nine programs of liberal Arts
• One program of History
• Two programs of Law
• Twenty-two programs of Engineering
• Seven programs in natural sciences
• Three programs of Continuing education
• Seven programs for undergraduate degrees
Efforts to exchanges
Since the foundation, Changshu Institute of Technology has made great efforts to the exchanging programs, and to get partners around the world, and brought well-known and talented students and qualified masters to become a faculty member from foreign countries. At present, it uses 27 disciplinary programs for over 1,000 oversea collegians. The university has conferred them with diplomas, certifications for completing bachelor, master and Ph.D. levels depending on the schemes. Furthermore, more than 20 overseas masters are working in this university’s teaching buildings from different countries.
Bibliotheca
Changshu Institute of Technology’s bibliotheca includes two libraries (library of Eastern Lake, and South campus’s library). The libraries are very large and keep a collection of over 1,200,000 volumes, 3,000,000 e-books, 50,000 different periodicals and journals. There are 70 people working in these libraries. Most of them own diplomas of bachelor, five have masters degree and three doctoral degree qualifications. All rooms are provided with chairs to read and internet-enabled computers to use. The libraries are open between 8:00 a.m. and 9 p.m. 7 days in a week. They always work, even in holidays and at the weekends.
